Are you passionate about supporting others? Do you want to be part of a dedicated team tackling some of the most pressing social challenges, including substance use, domestic abuse, and homelessness?
We're looking for a motivated and compassionate Caseworker to join our team at Middlesbrough Council. This is your chance to make a lasting impact in your community by supporting vulnerable individuals to improve their health, wellbeing, and future prospects.

About the Role As a Caseworker, you will:

  • Deliver tailored psychosocial interventions to support clients in achieving their goals.
  • Work collaboratively with other professionals and agencies to ensure the best outcomes.
  • Help clients develop healthier habits, access support services, and build a more stable life.
This is a full-time role (Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week), initially funded until March 2026, with the possibility of extension.

What We’re Looking For We welcome candidates from all backgrounds. Experience in substance use services is helpful but not essential — we’ll provide full training. More important are your transferrable skills, such as:
  • Caseload management and care planning
  • Risk assessment and management
  • Experience working with vulnerable individuals
  • Empathy, resilience, and a strong desire to make a difference
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to build trust and rapport quickly
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills
  • A flexible, client-centred approach
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development
Lived experience is also welcomed and valued.

Requirements
  • A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle
  • Business insurance (or willingness to obtain this prior to starting)
What We Offer
  • Comprehensive induction and ongoing training
  • A supportive team environment
  • Excellent pension scheme
  • Access to staff benefits and employee discounts
  • Opportunities for career development and progression
Please note: This role is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
