Job description

Job Title: Caseworker

Working For: Helena Dollimore MP (Hastings and Rye)

Location: Hastings & Rye

Salary: In line with IPSA pay scale

Length of Contract: 3 months

Job Details

Helena Dollimore, Labour and Co-operative MP for Hastings, Rye and the villages is looking for a motivated Caseworker to join her constituency team initially on a three-month fixed term contract, with the possibility of extension. This role is mainly office-based and administrative.

This role would suit someone who is looking for a role local to Hastings & Rye who is dedicated to supporting the needs of constituents.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Analyse patterns of enquiries and produce reports
  2. Assist with surgeries and other meetings and follow up as appropriate
  3. Attend team and constituency meetings as appropriate
  4. Critically analyse patterns of enquiries and articulate the findings in reports and communication with the MP and other staff members
  5. Deal with large numbers of standard queries, as well as assisting on more complex cases from members of the public by phone, email, social media or face to face. This includes both constituency and policy casework. Ongoing communication may be required
  6. Liaise with third parties and draft responses to constituents
  7. Ensure records are kept and information managed confidentially in line with the data protection legislation
  8. Ensure that each case is dealt with promptly, sensitively, confidentially and accurately in accordance with the MP
  9. Follow up on social media queries and comments
  10. Gather relevant information to assist with resolving cases
  11. Log all cases; monitor progress and ensure all identified actions are taken
  12. Manage and monitor social media enquiries, dealing with cases that do not need to be transferred to a higher level. Ensure all enquiries are dealt with in a timely manner
  13. Retain records and information confidentially and in line with the Data Protection Act
  14. Complete administrative/office tasks as directed
  15. There may be a requirement for the role holder to work outside of the normal working hours and travel for work occasionally
