Job description

Caseworker

Location: Crawley, West Sussex
Contract: Initially 4 months
Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week
Rate: £21 per hour (umbrella) - (£16 PAYE an hour)

West Sussex County Council is seeking a compassionate and organised Caseworker to join their team in Crawley, providing essential support to refugee and migrant individuals and families during their relocation and integration journey in the UK.

This is a highly varied and rewarding role supporting clients from their first arrival in the UK through to settling into long-term accommodation and establishing independence.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct support to individuals and families throughout the resettlement process.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, external agencies, and voluntary/community sector organisations to coordinate care and services.
  • Facilitate integration by linking families with local services, schools, housing, healthcare, and employment support.
  • Coordinate volunteer and community efforts to foster inclusive environments for new arrivals.
  • Manage a caseload, maintaining accurate records and providing regular reports on progress.
  • Keep up to date with relevant national policies and best practices.
  • Travel across the county as needed to meet the needs of the families.
  • Utilise translation services where necessary to ensure clear communication.
About You:
  • Previous experience working with vulnerable individuals or families, ideally within refugee, migrant, housing, or social services.
  • Strong interpersonal and partnership-building skills.
  • Knowledge of UK resettlement policies or community integration work is desirable.
  • Ability to manage a caseload and work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Comfortable using IT systems and recording case information accurately.
  • Flexible, with the ability to travel across West Sussex and adjust working hours as required to meet service needs.
