Job description

Title – Case Handler Lead

Division – Corporate Governance

Salary - National (Edinburgh and Leeds) ranging from £59,100 to £70,000 and London £64,900 to £76,500 per annum (Salary offered will be based on skills and experience)

The DMCS is part of the Corporate Governance Division, a busy and dynamic division working at the centre of the FCA, led by the Company Secretary. The division’s key responsibilities include supporting the FCA and PSR Boards and Committees, their Decision-Making Committees, the FCA’s Executive Committees, and the Independent Panels. Our stakeholders include the FCA Chief Executive and Chair, executive directors, FCA and PSR staff, Boards and committees, and the independent panels. We support them by:

  • Facilitating efficient and effective governance

  • Managing relationships with the wider FCA and PSR

  • Undertaking analysis and providing technical advice

  • Ensuring that decisions and inputs are recorded and considered or acted upon

The DMCS also provides case management support, professional business support and advice to Executive Decision Makers (EDMs) within Enforcement, Authorisations and Supervision. It ensures the efficient and effective operation of EDM cases, processes and procedures.

What will you be doing?

  • Managing and progressing a portfolio of cases through the RDC or EDM case journey, in line with relevant processes and best practice guidelines. This will include triaging new cases, managing competing deadlines and timetables, conducting conflict checks, ensuring bundles are complete, acting as a single point of contact internally and externally (including managing correspondence with subjects and case teams), liaising with case teams / legal advisers and assisting the panel chairs on relevant matters

  • Providing case management and related support services to the RDC, DMCS Manager, other committees and decision-makers, as needed

  • Working effectively and proactively with the team’s stakeholders, including committee members, taking responsibility for managing internal and external relationships

  • Preparing regular management information and analysis (MI) to assess the case pipeline

  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of internal processes and procedures

  • Promoting the work of the RDC, DMCS team and the Corporate Governance Division through overseeing, preparing and delivering tailored training

Minimum

  • Experience in a similar case management role and experience with case management systems

  • Experience of strong stakeholder management skills, including engaging at a senior level both in person, written and verbally

Essential

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain issues succinctly and with clarity. Experience in workload prioritisation and time management, both individually and across a team

  • Sound judgement, with the ability to made logical and timely decisions, cutting through complexity and seeing the big picture

  • Strong relationship management skills and able to identify and manage internal and external stakeholders, collaborate effectively and adapt communication style to achieve outcomes and influence in both formal and informal teams

  • A team player with a positive, proactive approach and outlook to their work. Experience of motivating others, mentoring and coaching less experienced team members, sharing knowledge and giving high-quality feedback

  • Commitment to high standards and motivated by challenges, responding positively to them, with a flexible approach to change and an ability to adapt working styles accordingly

  • Knowledge of the impact of regulation on the UK financial system and a good understanding of the RDC’s role
