The Carrier Sales Representative is responsible for sourcing, developing, and maintaining strong relationships with carriers to ensure freight is moved efficiently and cost-effectively. This role requires a strong sales mindset, excellent negotiation skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Source and develop carrier relationships through cold calling, networking, and industry research.
  • Negotiate pricing and capacity with carriers to cover customer loads profitably and reliably.
  • Monitor and track shipments to ensure on-time pickup and delivery, providing proactive updates to internal teams as needed.
  • Build and maintain a carrier portfolio by establishing strong, long-term relationships based on trust, communication, and consistent volume.
  • Identify market trends and pricing fluctuations, adjusting strategies as necessary to stay competitive while communicating with the Customer Sales team on any changes in the market.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including Customer Sales and Operations, to align carrier capacity with customer demand.
  • Maintain accurate load and carrier data in the company’s transportation management system (TMS).
  • Ensure compliance with company standards, FMCSA regulations, and carrier vetting policies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain, or related field preferred (or equivalent work experience).
  • 0–3 years of experience in carrier sales, freight brokerage, or logistics preferred.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a high-pressure, fast-paced sales environment.
  • Self-motivated with a strong sense of urgency and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and experience using TMS or CRM systems.
