Job summary

Morgan Hunt UK Ltd is seeking a skilled Carpentry Lecturer to join our teaching team. The role focuses on delivering high-quality theoretical and practical carpentry training to prepare learners for the construction industry.

The ideal candidate will have strong industry experience, excellent practical skills and a passion for teaching, training, and developing future construction professionals. A PGCE or equivalent is desirable.

Qualifications

• A relevant qualification in Carpentry, Joinery, Woodworking, or related construction discipline.
• Proven practical experience in carpentry and joinery within the construction industry.
• A recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed or equivalent) desirable.
• Vocational assessor qualifications are an advantage.
• Experience delivering vocational training or supervising apprentices is beneficial.
• Good knowledge of carpentry tools, materials, construction methods and health and safety.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and construction specifications.
• Strong communication, organisation and classroom management skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging theoretical and practical lessons in carpentry and joinery.
• Teach learners to interpret construction drawings, specifications and measurements.
• Demonstrate carpentry techniques including cutting, shaping, assembling, fixing, and finishing timber components.
• Train learners in use of hand tools, power tools, machinery and workshop equipment.
• Prepare lesson plans, schemes of work, teaching materials and practical assessment tasks.
• Assess learners' practical work and theoretical knowledge with constructive feedback.
• Monitor learner progress and maintain records to support qualifications.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and workshop procedures.
