Job summary

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in Carpentry with supervision/management experience.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and plans.
• Experience with framing and finish carpentry on site.
• Contracts management experience including planning and cost control.
• Knowledge of UK building regulations and health & safety on site.
• Excellent organization, communication and problem-solving skills.
• Senior carpentry or contracts management background in residential/commercial works.
• Competence with basic IT tools for reporting and coordination.
• Vocational carpentry qualifications; a construction management qualification is a plus.

Role Description

The Carpentry Contracts Manager/Senior Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Greater London, responsible for overseeing carpentry packages from pre-start through completion. This role includes managing carpentry subcontractors, coordinating schedules, monitoring progress, and ensuring work meets quality, safety, and compliance standards. Day-to-day tasks involve reviewing drawings and specifications, planning labor and materials, conducting site inspections, and resolving technical and logistical issues. The role also requires liaising with clients, site managers, and suppliers, preparing reports and cost updates, and supporting the continuous improvement of carpentry methods and site processes. The Carpentry Contracts Manager/Senior Manager will mentor carpentry teams, promote safe working practices, and ensure that all carpentry works integrate smoothly with other trades.

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in Carpentry with experience supervising or managing carpentry teams on construction projects.
• Practical proficiency with Hand Tools and Power Tools used in structural and finishing carpentry work.
• Experience with Framing and structural carpentry, including reading and interpreting technical drawings and plans.
• Ability to oversee Finish Carpentry to ensure high standards of fit, finish, and overall presentation.
• Proven experience in contracts management, including planning, scheduling, cost control, and resource allocation.
• Solid understanding of UK building regulations, health and safety requirements, and site compliance procedures.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders.
• Previous experience in a senior site carpentry or carpentry contracts management role within residential or commercial construction.
• Competence with basic IT tools (e.g., email, spreadsheets, project documentation) for reporting and coordination.
• Relevant vocational qualifications, apprenticeships, or trade certifications in carpentry; a construction management qualification is an advantage.
