Job summary

Dovetail and Slate Limited is seeking a Carpentry Assessor in the East Midlands. You will support learners and apprentices as they work toward their carpentry qualifications, drawing on your trade experience to help them develop practical skills and industry-standard best practices.

You’ll carry out assessments in the workplace and in training environments, giving clear and constructive feedback that keeps learners on track.

Qualifications

  • Recognised carpentry or joinery qualification and relevant occupational experience in the trade.
  • Substantial hands-on experience in carpentry or joinery.
  • Clear communication with constructive feedback.
  • Organised with accurate assessment records.
  • Able to work with both learners and employers.

Carpentry Assessor

Location: the East Midlands

Salary: £36,000- 43,000 per annum

Are you an experienced carpentry professional looking to share your trade with the next generation of joiners and site carpenters?

About the Role

As a Carpentry Assessor, you'll support learners and apprentices as they work towards their qualifications, guiding them through the practical and knowledge-based elements of their programme. You'll draw on your own experience in the trade to help them develop the skills, confidence and standards the industry expects.

You’ll carry out assessments in the workplace and in the training environment, giving clear and constructive feedback that keeps learners on track. Working closely with employers and colleagues, you'll make sure each learner has the support they need to progress and succeed.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Assessing learners against the requirements of their carpentry qualification or apprenticeship standard.
  • Planning and carrying out assessments in the workplace and training settings.
  • Providing clear, constructive feedback to support learner progress.
  • Maintaining accurate records of assessment decisions and learner achievement.
  • Supporting learners to develop the practical skills and knowledge required by the industry.
  • Working with employers and colleagues to ensure a positive learner experience.
Essential Qualification

A recognised carpentry or joinery qualification and relevant occupational experience in the trade

  • Communicates clearly and gives constructive, motivating feedback
  • Is organised and able to maintain accurate assessment records
