Job summary

A local training organization is looking for a motivated Apprentice Carpenter to join a close-knit team. This unique role offers hands-on training in bespoke timber construction, working closely with experienced craftsmen. Apprentices will assist in building custom cabins and learn various carpentry skills. The position requires GCSEs in Mathematics and English, and ideal candidates should have a driving license and vehicle due to travel needs. A permanent role may be offered after completion of the apprenticeship.

Qualifications

• GCSEs in Mathematics and English (grade 3–9*).
• Ability to commute to various job sites in Gloucestershire.
• Driving license and own vehicle preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the construction and installation of bespoke timber cabins.
• Accurately measure, mark, cut, and prepare timber components.
• Support the fitting and assembly of structural frames and features.
• Help with finishing work, ensuring high-quality finishes on timber surfaces.
• Participate in the repair and refurbishment of existing structures.
• Maintain tidy and safe work areas, following health and safety guidelines.

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Apprentice Carpenter to join our close-knit team at Statham Custom Cabins. This is a unique opportunity to learn the art of bespoke timber construction, working alongside experienced craftsmen to create custom cabins and garden buildings that are as individual as our clients.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands‑on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

As an apprentice, you will receive hands‑on training in all aspects of carpentry and joinery, from the initial build through to the finishing touches.

You will also have the chance to develop your skills in sustainable building practices and innovative design, all while contributing to projects that make a real difference in people’s lives.

Duties will include:

• Assist with the construction and installation of bespoke timber cabins and garden rooms, both on‑site and in our workshop
• Accurately measure, mark, cut, and prepare timber components according to project specifications
• Support the fitting and assembly of structural frames, panels, doors, windows, and interior features
• Help with finishing work, including sanding, treating, and ensuring high‑quality finishes on all timber surfaces
• Participate in the repair and refurbishment of existing structures as needed
• Prepare and maintain tidy, safe work areas, ensuring all tools and materials are stored correctly
• Follow all health and safety guidelines to maintain a safe working environment for yourself and your team

Training

An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.

Other requirements
