Leicester Local Authority - Property Services
Based in Leicester 18 per hour 37 Hours per Week Full Time

We're seeking an experienced Carpenter to join our local authority maintenance team. This is a full-time position focused on UPVC repairs and installations, as well as general carpentry and joinery tasks across the city.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out carpentry and joinery work including UPVC doors and windows repairs/installs
  • Deliver high-quality work in both occupied and unoccupied premises
  • Work safely and efficiently using appropriate tools and techniques
  • Provide out-of-hours support on a rota basis, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays
  • Visit tenants' homes and various council sites to carry out scheduled and emergency repairs

Essential Criteria:

  • NVQ Level 2 in Carpentry/Joinery or extensive relevant experience
  • Experience in UPVC work, including repairs and installations
  • Good knowledge of H&S regulations, safe working practices, and industry standards
  • Able to work in challenging, dirty environments and at heights when required
  • Willing to wear face-fitted respiratory equipment and attend health surveillance checks
  • Must wear uniform, safety equipment, and carry ID badge at all times
  • Professional appearance and attitude with a clean and tidy work approach
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Must be available for out-of-hours standby/emergency callouts as part of a rota
