Responsibilities

  • Perform 1st and 2nd fix carpentry tasks including hanging doors and fitting skirting.
  • Conduct basic plumbing tasks to maintain property conditions.
  • Assist in kitchen and bathroom refurbishments as needed.
  • Address minor tiling repairs in bathrooms and kitchens.
  • Execute minor patch plastering tasks for finished surfaces.
  • Identify and rectify minor defects through snagging works.
  • Document tasks and progress efficiently using a PDA.
  • Maintain communication with customers, clients, and staff.

Fraser Edwards is currently working with a Property Maintenance Company to source a skilled Carpenter/Multi Trade Operative for a long-term contract role within social housing covering the Birmingham area.

This role requires not only technical proficiency but also strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with residents. The successful candidate will be involved in a variety of tasks, from essential carpentry work to engaging with residents and addressing their maintenance needs promptly. The role plays a crucial part in maintaining the living standards and safety of social housing properties. As a key member of the maintenance team, the operative will assist in transforming and upkeeping the living spaces, thereby improving the quality of life for residents.

The Role
  • 1st and 2nd Fix Carpentry – Hanging doors, fitting skirting and architrave.
  • Basic Plumbing – Conduct essential plumbing tasks to maintain and improve property conditions.
  • Kitchen and Bathroom Refurbishment Works – Upgrade these critical areas.
  • Minor Tiling Repairs – Address small tiling issues in bathrooms and kitchens.
  • Patch Plastering – Execute minor plastering tasks to ensure smooth and finished surfaces.
  • Snagging Works – Identify and rectify minor defects to ensure high-quality standards.
  • Logging Works via PDA – Efficiently document tasks and progress using a PDA.
  • Liaising with Customers, Clients, and Staff – Maintain clear communication to ensure smooth operations and customer satisfaction.
