Overview
Carpenter Multi-Trader role for a Housing Association in their voids team. Location: Southampton (covering Hampshire postcodes including Southampton, Portsmouth, Winchester and Eastleigh). Salary: £23 - £25 per hour. Status: Temp-to-perm. Van and fuel supplied. Working hours: 8am - 5pm.
Responsibilities
- Turn around void (empty) properties in a safe and timely manner, delivering a finish to be proud of.
- Demonstrate a core skilled trade (carpentry, plumbing or wet trade) and undertake a range of multi-trade duties including:
- Like-for-like plumbing works
- Tiling (mainly splash backs)
- Painting and decorating
- Patch plastering
- 2nd fix internal carpentry
- Kitchen fitting
- Bathroom upgrades
- General property maintenance
- Note: No electric or gas work will be undertaken in this role; these works are performed by other trades.
- Work on void or refurbishment of empty residential properties, ideally in a social housing setting.
- Deliver high-quality work that meets finished specifications so properties can be quickly re-let.
- Perform a wide range of general repairs and maintenance tasks in each property.
- Coordinate with schedulers and planners to meet contract SLA delivery in a timely manner.
- Advise your supervisor on issues or challenges requiring additional support.
- Work independently or as part of a team when required to complete a repair element.
- Complete daily work sheets detailing works undertaken and materials used after each job.
- Work in a timely and productive manner.
Requirements
- NVQ Level 2 or NVQ Level 3 in at least one trade, or evidence of time served.
- Own 110v power tools and hand tools.
- Basic IT skills (PDA usage).
- SOR codes knowledge desired.
- Extensive knowledge of maintenance and repair works.
- Experience in social housing repairs, voids, or planned works.
- Adhere to company health and safety guidelines.
- Collaborate with a range of stakeholders; problem solving and decision making.
- Attention to detail; accountability and initiative; flexibility and adaptability.
- You must hold a full UK driving licence as a company vehicle is supplied.
