Salary: £32,438.51 per annum
Contract: Permanent, full time, 39 hours per week
We are seeking an experienced Carpenter to join our team at HMP Winchester, a category B adult male local prison.
Our team works Monday to Friday as a supportive and driven group, aiming to create a safe and nurturing environment for the men in our care.
The prison operates like a self-contained facility with a Facilities Maintenance Team committed to the smooth and safe operation. Our work supports prisoners, employees, visitors, and the wider community.
You will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced colleagues who include Plumbers, Electricians, Carpenters, Painters, Administrators, and Cleaners, all dedicated to making a positive difference and providing a safe and secure environment.
Working in a local prison requires emotional resilience, the ability to work at pace, to manage multiple tasks, and to stay calm under pressure.

Future Plans
GFSL has been notified by its shareholder (MOJ) that FM services will, in future, be delivered by the private sector. Following a successful procurement process, GFSL’s services will transfer to a private sector provider/providers no earlier than August 2027.
