Job Role: Carpenter inc Locksmith

Location: HMP Chelmsford

Salary: £30,000

Contract: Full time/perm

We are seeking a dedicated Carpenter inc Locksmith to join our team at HMP Chelmsford, a Category B, Male prison. Join a team that works Monday to Sunday as a supportive and driven family, working together to create a safe and nurturing environment.

HMP Chelmsford operates like a self-contained city, requiring hundreds of staff to keep it functioning. As part of the Facilities Maintenance Team, your work impacts prisoners, staff, visitors, families, and the wider community. You will work alongside experienced colleagues including Plumbers, Electricians, Carpenters, Painters, Cleaners, and Administrators, all committed to providing a safe environment.

  • Substantiated experience in a similar role
  • Competency in using power tools and machinery
  • Basic IT skills (Microsoft Office Excel and Word)
  • Knowledge of health and safety requirements
  • Up-to-date First Aid at Work Qualification
  • City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3 in Carpentry or equivalent, or substantial experience
  • Good health & safety knowledge
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and people skills
