Job description
Overview

Gov Facility Services Ltd (GFSL) is seeking an experienced Carpenter to join our team at HMP Winchester, Romsey Rd, Winchester SO22 5DF. This is a permanent, full-time role (39 hours per week) in a category B adult male local prison.

Location: HMP Winchester

Salary: £32,438.51 per annum

Contract: Permanent, full time

Responsibilities
  • Provide carpentry services as part of the Facilities Maintenance Team to support the safe and secure operation of the prison.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across trades (Plumbers, Electricians, Carpenters, Painters, Administrators and Cleaners) to deliver maintenance and improvements.
  • Apply knowledge of current best practices, safety standards and preventative/reactive maintenance in daily work.
  • Demonstrate emotional resilience, work at pace, manage multiple tasks, and stay calm under pressure.
Qualifications
  • A formal qualification such as NVQ or City and Guilds level 2, or substantial work-based experience with knowledge of current best practices and material, tool and equipment safety standards
  • Knowledge of routine preventative maintenance and ability to adapt to changing priorities when reactive maintenance is required
  • Enjoyment of teamwork and collaborative working
  • Honest, reliable, and robust character
