Job description

We have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Carpenter in Framfield, near Uckfield in East Sussex. You will be working alongside a skilled team on new build passive and high-end conversions.

About the hours & salary

As a Carpenter, you will work 8 hours a day, starting at 7.30 am with two half-hour breaks. The salary offered is £35,000 to £37,000 per annum, depending on experience. There is also an option to work on a self-employed basis with a day rate of £160 to £190, depending on experience.

About the role

You will work on high-end building conversions and new build passive buildings, which are super-insulated structures generating passive power through solar gain. Duties include:

  • Collaborating with designers and planners on construction projects
  • Matching materials to design specifications
  • Measuring materials and spaces for installation
  • Assembling fixtures and fittings
  • Assisting other trades on site
  • Performing first and second fixing work, including joining

About you

To succeed in this role, you should have / be:

  • 1st and 2nd fix experience
  • Ability to work with existing carpenters
  • Initiative and independence
  • Strong work ethic and pride in your craftsmanship
  • Courteous communication skills with clients
  • Own transport
