Job Role - Carpenter

Location: HMP Erlestoke, Devizes. SN10 5TU

Salary: £36,678.26 per annum

Contract: Permanent, Full Time, 39 hrs per week, Mon-Fri with on-call

We are seeking a dedicated Carpenter to join our team at HMP Erlestoke, a CATEGORY C Adult Male prison.

HMP Erlestoke operates like a self-contained CITY / TOWN, requiring hundreds of staff to keep it functioning. As part of the Facilities Maintenance Team, we are committed to ensuring smooth and safe operations; everything we do impacts prisoners, staff, visitors, and the wider community.

As a Carpenter, you will work alongside experienced colleagues including Plumbers, Electricians, Painters, Cleaners, and Administrators, all dedicated to making a positive difference and providing a secure environment for all.

We are a Ministry of Justice business providing critical, time-bound services to HMPPS. We are looking for a Carpenter with experience and the following qualifications:

• Substantiated experience in a similar role
• Competency in the use of power tools and machinery
• Basic IT skills, including Microsoft Office Excel and Word
• Knowledge of health and safety requirements
• Up-to-date First Aid at Work Qualification
• City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3 in Carpentry, or equivalent qualification, or substantial experience
• Good health and safety knowledge
• Excellent organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills
