Job summary

Peabody is hiring a Part-Time Driver to provide safe and compassionate transport for older and vulnerable customers in Tower Hamlets. You’ll enable attendance at activities and appointments, and be a valued team member ensuring journeys are safe, comfortable and respectful.

The role runs Monday to Friday 2.30pm–5pm with Saturday afternoon cover about every 4 weeks. Training, safeguarding knowledge, and MiDAS eligibility are a plus.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid PCV/D1 licence and have minibus driving experience.
• Excellent communication and people skills are essential.
• Caring, patient and empathetic approach to support vulnerable customers.
• Basic IT skills including emails, apps and smartphones.

Responsibilities

• Safely transport customers to and from homes, activities and outings.
• Support customers with mobility needs, including wheelchair users.
• Operate tail lifts, wheelchair restraints, and other accessibility equipment.
• Carry out vehicle checks and report faults promptly.
• Ensure the minibus is safe, clean and roadworthy.
• Provide excellent customer service and build positive relationships with customers.
• Identify and report safeguarding concerns per Peabody policies.
• Use smartphone and digital systems for schedules, emails, and service updates.
• Follow health and safety procedures and maintain required training and qualifications.
