Job summary

Avery Healthcare's Springwood Corner Care Home is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to support the catering team with food preparation, keep the kitchen clean and safe, and help deliver high-quality meals for residents.

The role is physically demanding and requires a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate. The employer covers the DBS check and you will contribute to residents' dignity and well-being by following safety and hygiene rules.

Qualifications

• Basic Food Hygiene Certificate required.
• Knowledge of health and safety, including moving and handling, fire safety and COSHH assessments.
• Sustained physical effort and capacity for a demanding workload.
• Initiative and a flexible approach to teamwork.
• Caring and understanding attitude towards residents.

Responsibilities

• Support the catering team with food preparation
• Keep the kitchen clean so meals and drinks are produced safely
• Apply safe food handling principles to meet high hygiene standards
• Contribute to team working and carry out reasonable instructions promptly
• Advise on the supply and quality of items and order replacements in good time
• Treat residents and visitors with respect, protecting their dignity and individuality
