To be responsible for the implementation and compliance of all aspects of Safety and Operational Compliance for our Cargo activities in the UK & Ireland. The role is accountable for all Operational and Occupational Safety at our Cargo facilities, including our outsourced 3rd party locations. Supporting the Manager - Cargo Operations, UK&I, the role will ensure Air Canada remain compliant with both regulatory and company standards.

Responsibilities:
  • Safety
  • Management of Health & Safety procedures and requirements within Cargo at LHR
  • Manage and maintain H&S documentation to ensure regulatory compliance (Risk Assessments, Fire Emergency Plan etc.)
  • Ensure company procedures are adhered to and safety protocols are followed
  • Monitor the delivery of operational safety in accordance with Air Canada's safety standards, policies and procedures which includes emergency response and environmental plans
  • Lead and embed IOSA standards and the application of SMS within each respective operation
  • Investigate any reported safety incidents within the region and submit Corrective and Preventative Actions (CAPA) where necessary
  • Organise and assist with staff training where necessary
  • Complete regular Workplace Inspections with Union H&S representatives
  • Responsible for organising regular H&S meetings with applicable stakeholders
  • Organise and record fire drills as per regulatory requirements
  • Develop appropriate CAPA response to any station audit findings within regions.
  • Conduct station audits to ensure safety compliance
  • Operational delivery / Compliance
  • Management of quality procedures and requirements within Cargo facility at LHR
  • Monitor compliance and delivery of agreed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and KPI performance.
  • Ensure delivery of agreed operational service levels at all relevant locations
  • Monitor operational Cargo iQ Measures
  • Service Failure Resolution
  • Manage and ensuring compliance with Border Force Temporary Storage (ITSF) requirements
  • Provide support and guidance to the Operations team where required
  • Conduct investigations in line with company disciplinary procedures
  • Conduct audits to ensure SOP compliance
  • Oversee station audits that are conducted by regulatory authorities such as Animal & Plant Health Agency, Environmental Health Agency, Health & Safety Executive and Border Force etc.
  • Assist with follow up and corrective actions for any Audit findings at applicable GHAs

Qualifications
  • A minimum of 5 years working in an operational environment, with at least 2 years at a management/supervisory level , Cargo experience would be an asset
  • Qualified to UK DFT Security Manager Level G (asset)
  • NEBOSH qualified (asset)
  • Ability to communicate at a broad range of levels

Linguistic Requirements

Fluent in English language, oral and written. French and other languages are an asset.
