Part time (Weekdays 7am to 9.30am and 2.30pm to 6pm) - 30 Hours Per Week, Permanent

Due to the opening of an additional school site in Caerleon, Ysgol Bryn Derw is seeking to appoint a caretaker to work 30 hours a week, Monday to Friday, for 52 weeks per year. Holidays are to be taken during school holiday periods.

Ysgol Bryn Derw opened in September 2017 for young people aged 3-19 diagnosed with ASD and complex learning needs. From September 2025, the school will have 136 pupils across 3 sites (Gaer, Bettws, and Caerleon), aiming to provide high standards of education and support for all pupils regardless of their educational needs. We seek a committed caretaker who will thrive in this exciting environment and work effectively with pupils with specific needs.

The Governing Body wishes to appoint a caretaker who:

  1. Has good literacy and numeracy skills
  2. Has good communication skills
  3. Has experience in caretaking, premises management, building cleaning, or maintenance
  4. Is flexible
  5. Can use own initiative
  6. Can carry out general repairs
  7. Can lift and carry heavy items
  8. Has excellent interpersonal skills
  9. Can manage own work effectively

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (1974), and a comprehensive screening, including an enhanced DBS check, will be undertaken on all applicants.
