Job summary

Worthinghead Primary School in Bradford is seeking a dependable School Caretaker to care for our building, grounds and facilities, following the retirement of our long-standing colleague. Candidates should have proven experience as a caretaker or similar, knowledge of general repairs, and be able to work independently with a proactive, flexible approach.

Strong communication and teamwork with staff, pupils, parents and contractors is essential.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a caretaker, handyperson, or site manager in an educational or community environment.
• Strong knowledge of general building repairs including basic plumbing, decorating, and grounds upkeep.
• Proactive, independent worker with a flexible, can-do attitude and good task prioritisation.
• Excellent communicator and team player able to work with staff, children, parents, visitors and contractors.

Responsibilities

• Care for the school building, grounds and facilities on a daily basis.
• Plan and perform routine maintenance and safety checks.
• Liaise with staff, governors, and external contractors as required.
• Contribute to a safe, welcoming environment for pupils and visitors.

• Has proven practical experience as a caretaker, handyperson, or site manager - ideally within an educational or community environment.
• Possesses a strong knowledge of general building repairs and maintenance, including basic plumbing, decorating, and outdoor grounds upkeep.
• Is a proactive problem solver who can prioritise conflicting tasks, work independently under their own initiative, and approach daily site duties with a flexible, "can-do" attitude.
• Is an excellent communicator and team player who can build positive, respectful relationships with staff, children, parents, visitors, and contractors.
