Job summary

A caring primary school in Wales is seeking a dedicated Caretaker/Cleaner to ensure the safety and cleanliness of its premises. The ideal candidate will be organised, proactive, and have good communication skills, contributing to the overall health and safety of the school environment. This is a permanent part-time position (15 hours per week) during term time with additional weeks to be agreed upon.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a similar role is preferred, but training can be provided.
  • Understanding of health and safety practices is essential.
  • Flexibility to respond to alarm callouts when necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure school premises are safe and secure at all times.
  • Conduct cleaning duties across the school site.
  • Perform basic maintenance and minor repairs.
  • Open and close the school as required.
  • Support health and safety protocols.

The Governing Body is seeking to appoint a dedicated and reliable Caretaker/Cleaner to join our friendly school team. This is a key role in ensuring the safety, security, cleanliness, and smooth day-to-day running of our school premises.
Key Responsibilities:
• Ensuring the site is safe, secure, and well-maintained at all times
• Opening and closing the school
• Regular testing of systems, such as fire alarms and emergency lighting
• Cleaning duties across the school site
• Basic maintenance and minor repair work
• Responding to out-of-hours alarm callouts when required
• Monitoring heating and lighting systems
• Supporting with the overall health and safety of the school environment
Skills and Experience:
We are looking for someone who:
• Is organised, proactive, and takes pride in their work
• Has good communication skills and works well as part of a team
• Understands the importance of site security and health and safety
• Has some experience in a similar role, or is willing to undertake training
• Is flexible, trustworthy, and able to work independently
