Dovetail & Slate Ltd is seeking a hands-on Caretaker to keep a further education site safe, clean and well-maintained for staff and learners. You will be a visible, dependable presence, handling routine issues and supporting teaching environments.

You will work with the estates and facilities team, performing checks, minor repairs and responding to day-to-day requests across the organisation.

Qualifications

• Previous caretaking experience in education or public sector settings.
• Ability to carry out routine site tasks and minor repairs.
• Awareness of health and safety practices in a working environment.
• Reliable, flexible approach with ability to work on own initiative.
• Experience keeping premises secure and well-maintained.

Responsabilités

• Open, secure and check premises with routine site inspections.
• Carry out minor repairs and general maintenance tasks.
• Report faults and hazards to the appropriate team.
• Assist with room set-ups, deliveries and moving furniture/equipment.
• Help keep internal and external areas clean, tidy and safe.

About the Role

As a Caretaker, you'll help keep the premises of a further education provider secure, well maintained and ready for staff and learners each day. You'll be a visible, dependable presence around the site, dealing with issues as they arise and making sure the environment supports good teaching and learning.

You'll work alongside the wider estates and facilities team, carrying out routine checks and minor repairs, and responding to day-to-day requests from across the organisation.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Opening and securing the premises and carrying out routine site checks.
• Completing minor repairs and general maintenance tasks.
• Reporting faults, hazards and maintenance issues to the appropriate team.
• Supporting with room set-ups, deliveries and the movement of furniture and equipment.
• Helping to keep internal and external areas clean, tidy and safe.

What We're Looking For

• Previous caretaking, site or general maintenance experience
• Practical skills across a range of basic repair and maintenance tasks
• A reliable, flexible approach and the ability to work on your own initiative
• An awareness of health and safety in a working environment

Desirable (but not essential):

• Experience of working on an education or other public sector site
• A relevant health and safety or maintenance qualification
