The RaiseAcademy is a new school which opened in September 2024,supporting children aged11-16.

The RaiseAcademy pupils are given the opportunity to be engaged in a wide range ofvocational and practical subjects that will give them new opportunities toprogress personally, socially and academically. The curriculum is underpinnedby high quality and supportive Maths, English and Science and all lessons aretaught in small classes of up to 8 pupils, with teachers, learning mentors andpastoral/teaching assistants.

All membersof staff have a commitment and passion to deliver the best possible educationalexperiences, encouraging all students to dream big and empowering them to leadsuccessful and fulfilling lives, in a safe and protected, well-supportedatmosphere. Our aim is to reignite that love for learning that may havebeen lost at some point, through inspirational teaching and provision ofopportunity.

Job Description

JOBDESCRIPTION

Job Title:Caretaker (part-time)

Overallpurpose of job: To ensure the school premises are clean, secure, safe and wellmaintained.

Mainduties:

· Locking and unlocking thebuildings, as required.

· Assisting users withsetting up facilities such as chairs, tables etc.

· Dealing efficiently withpre-planned maintenance, day-to-day establishment requirements and problemsthat may arise.

· Undertaking minor repairsto fixtures and fittings.

· Ensure all plant andequipment is maintained to the required standard.

· Assisting with theorganisation of school refurbishments.

· Porterage around the schoolsite/s.

· Monitoring the premises forany hazards, carrying out repairs or reporting problems, where necessary.

· Ensuring that allstakeholders adhere to the school’s Health and Safety Policies and Procedures.

Health andsafety:

· Taking reasonable care ofown health and safety and that of others.

· Co-operating on all issuesinvolving health and safety.

· Using the appropriate workequipment provided, in accordance with training and instructions.

· Carry out risk assessments.

· Ensure all equipment ismaintained effectively, in line with statutory requirements.

· Not interfering or misusinganything provided for health, safety and welfare.

· Reporting any health andsafety concerns to the Site Manager/School Office Manager, as soon as possible.

· Ensuring all tasks arecompleted in a safe manner.

Otherduties:

· Holiday/cover for the SiteManager, as required.

· Overtime work, whenrequired and in agreement with the School Office Manager.

· Respond to emergency callouts and take action, as required.

· General cleaning, whenrequired.

· Supervision of contractors.

· Painting and decorating,general maintenance and repairs.

· Health and safety checks,in line with legislation.

· Sweeping/salting andkeeping clear school footpaths and car parks.

· Litter collection aroundthe school sites.

· Any other duties that maybe required.

· This role requiressignificant periods of lone working and as such, the postholder will need todisplay a high degree of responsibility and professionalism in their work.

The abilityto use own initiative is essential.

Safeguarding:

· All staff have aresponsibility to ensure that all school Safeguarding Policies are adhered to,at all times and that concerns are raised, in line with School Policy.

· A commitment to attendsuitable training, to support safeguarding and health and safetyresponsibilities within the school.

· Attendance at specificstaff training sessions, or INSET days, in line with safeguarding and healthand safety legislation.

Holidays:

· Holidays should be taken,in agreement and negotiation with the Site Manager and School Office Manager.

· Note: Post holders will beexpected to be flexible in undertaking duties and responsibilities attached totheir post and may be asked to perform duties which reasonably correspond tothe general character of the post and are commensurate with its level ofresponsibility.
