Caretaker (with some cleaning responsibilities)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a hardworking, reliable and committed caretaker to join our friendly team at Hursthead Junior School.

Hours: 37 hours per week split shift 6.30am to 10.30am (Mon Fri) and 2.30pm 6pm (Mon Thurs) 2.30pm 5.30pm (Fri).

Salary: NJC Scale 3 point 5 £24,790 FTE

Contract: Full time, Full Year, Permanent

The Trustees of the Kirkstead Education Trust at Hursthead Junior School wish to appoint a motivated individual who is highly organised, proactive, flexible and prides themselves on meticulous attention to detail. The successful candidate will demonstrate that he/she is able to:

  • Work flexibly with colleagues within a strong team
  • Communicate positively and effectively with children, staff, parents and contractors
  • Meet constant challenges with enthusiasm, determination, resilience and good humour
  • Organise and prioritise their own workload
  • Be pro-active and contribute to wider school life

He /she will play an integral part in the safe and efficient operation of the school site, including:

  • Securing the site and operating systems such as intruder and fire alarms
  • Cleaning to a high standard
  • General maintenance duties and minor repairs
  • Key holder responsibilities
  • Effective communication with the school team and liaison with contractors
  • Accurate and effective record keeping
  • Preparation/ set up of school events including out of hours meetings and performances

There will be a requirement to work late on certain evenings to accommodate school events as well as to respond to emergency call outs in unsociable hours. We are happy to discuss flexible working with the right candidate. You will be working alongside an external cleaning contractor who will cover designated tasks.
