Job description

Lowerhouses CE Primary School seek to appoint a reliable and pro-active caretaker. You would provide support across all aspects of school life, including: facilities management, maintenance, security and the promotion of health and safety in the working environment.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have a range of practical skills to carry out minor repairs and maintenance tasks, as well as an eye for detail when overseeing and monitoring the work of external contractors on site.
  • Be responsible for opening and locking up of the school site
  • Be responsible for maintaining and improving the school environment, both externally and internally
  • Be able to organise and prioritise work effectively and source and order consumable as needed
  • Be aware of Health and Safety requirements and able to identify any Health and Safety risks and deal with them as necessary
  • Be willing to complete training appropriate to the role
  • Be able to complete all paperwork to ensure that processes are

Emergencies can arise outside normal working hours, so flexibility is crucial in addition to a good understanding of health and safety, and the procedures necessary to keep our site, staff, pupils and visitors safe.

The ability to positively interact with colleagues, parents and the community is essential as is a willingness to contribute to the caring ethos that exists within the school.

Hours of work will be:

Monday to Friday

6.00am – 9.00am and 3.00pm – 5.30pm
