Job description

Do you live near or close to Liverpool 8?

Have you been in a caretaker role for more than 12 months? (preferably in a school)

Are you handy to take care of maintenance?

Do you have a DBS?

Fancy earning £13.50-£14.50PH depending on experience ?

We are looking for someone who is actively seeking work and can start in September post school term starting - you will be flexible and good with people, whilst having a cast amount of experience in being able to support schools for any low-level maintenance on site.

As a school caretaker you will be able to demonstrate previous hands-on experience in the education sector, and have worked with schools, colleges, or universities to support their facilities function.

This role will involve you delivering 8 hours per day, 4 early morning then late afternoon

Hours 7.30am - 11.15am and 2.45pm - 6pm

This role is ongoing but could lead to a permanent post depending on your work ethic and efficiency

Role responsibilities

  • Maintaining clean, safe and secure school premises, which includes building and grounds.
  • Carrying out cleaning, handy person activities, routine maintenance and refurbishment, and minor repairs.
  • Promoting health and safety around the schools
  • Carry out porterage duties, such as moving furniture and equipment around the school
  • Maintain the general school premises, furniture, and fittings, and reporting any issues to the Head Teacher
  • Carry out small repairs and DIY projects
  • Carry out daily cleaning and ad-hoc duties, such as litter picking and arranging the disposal of waste
  • Carry out emergency cleaning duties, such as gritting and cleaning up spillages
  • Take responsibility of the maintenance of cleaning tools and products, including arranging replacements and ensuring good stock levels
  • Maintain the security of the school premises as the main key holder
  • Lock and unlock the premises as required, including out of school's hours when necessary
  • Check at the end of the school day that all windows, doors and gates are locked, lights switched off, and gas and electrical appliances are turned off
  • Provide safe access to the schools in cold weather conditions

You must have

  • Previous caretaking experience within a school environment
  • Previous experience of building maintenance
  • Previous experience of security including alarm systems
  • Good knowledge and understanding of health and safety regulations
  • Basic DIY Skills
