Job summary
Amey is seeking a Caretaker/Janitor for Renfrewshire Schools at Woodlands Primary School in Linwood, Paisley. This fixed-term post runs until end-February 2027, on-site with a salary of £14.70 per hour.
You’ll help keep the school premises safe, clean and compliant, supporting both local and carbon-reduction initiatives. The role requires practical DIY skills, flexible shifts, strong relationships with on-site staff, and a commitment to safeguarding and health & safety across the contract.
Qualifications
- Knowledge and previous experience in practical DIY skills for minor repair
- Flexible with shift work
- Good at developing strong working relationships with on-site client and employees
- This role will also support both local and business zero carbon programmes
- Responsible for ensuring H&S standards are achieved across the contract
Responsibilities
- Ensure smooth running of the school premises
- Carrying out day-to-day DIY/maintenance and minor repairs (i.e., furniture fixtures, wall repairs)
- To ensure heating, lighting and alarm systems are working properly
- Daily responsible to check that all doors and windows are locked when the building is not in use
- Checking the premises to guard against vandalism
- Arranging chairs and tables for meetings or assemblies and clearing away afterwards
- Litter picking and general clearing of external areas
