Darlington Borough Council, Corporate Landlord team, are seeking to recruit a Caretaker/ Handy-Person, based in the Town Hall, to carry out all aspects of premises management and site security.

The successful candidate would work closely with the building occupiers to ensure the premises provide a clean, safe and secure working environment. You would ensure the buildings are heated and maintained to a satisfactory standard and ensure all firefighting equipment is regularly inspected and maintained. The role would require regular inspections of premises internally and externally and for the successful candidate to act as a point of contact for contractors.

You will have at least 3 years caretaking or relevant practical experience in building maintenance, heating, ventilating, electrical or similar work and a knowledge of Health and Safety legislation in relation to building maintenance. An ability to communicate both orally and in writing to a wide range of audiences and an ability to deal effectively with members of the public is essential.
