Job summary

Perth & Kinross Council is seeking a Caretaker to provide a reliable caretaking/portering service across council properties in Perth, including High Street, Pullar House and Carpenter House. The role operates on a Mon–Fri pattern, 36 hours, with occasional weekend work.

You will move furniture/equipment, open/close properties, perform security checks, identify repairs and coordinate with officers. Training and continuous development are supported by the council.

Qualifications

• Experience in caretaking/handyperson roles preferred.
• Ability to communicate well and work as part of a small team.
• Qualified first aider, or willing to undertake training.

Responsibilities

• Open/close properties and carry out security checks.
• Portering: movement of furniture/equipment and delivery of goods across properties.
• Identify repairs/maintenance needs and liaise with officers.
• Conduct visual fire safety checks and report hazards.
• Work on a rotational shift pattern (Mon–Fri, 36 hours) with occasional weekend work.
