Job description

Caretaker (EOTAS) Ty Gwyn Education Centre based at Ty Castan

Salary: Grade 3 (£23,114 x 23.74%)

Location: Ty Gwyn Education Centre, Rhondda Cynon Taf Council, Y Dolydd, Aberdare, RCT, CF44 8EX

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part-time Caretaker at Ty Castan, Library Road, Pontypridd, CF32 2DY. Pupils who attend the site are placed at the Tuition Service overseen by Ty Gwyn Education Centre in Aberdare. The site has recently been refurbished (having been the former Pontypridd Library) to include a range of open spaces, classrooms and communal areas, as well as kitchen and toilet facilities. Teaching staff and pupils access the site during school hours, and there is a requirement for opening and closing of the site, maintaining access and egress points, and daily checking of the site prior to usage.

The following responsibilities are included, but flexibility is essential:

  1. Electrical, fire and safety checks completion and recording
  2. Securing doors and windows, setting and responding to any alarm incidents
  3. Minor maintenance and repairs, general housekeeping
  4. Disposing of rubbish, recycling and meeting waste requirements
  5. Cleaning gullies and maintaining guttering and pavements in winter conditions
  6. Checking temperatures of fridges and ovens as required, checking fire-fighting equipment is maintained and up to date

The post reports to the Head of Alternative Learning who is based at Ty Castan.
