Job summary

The Recruitment Co is recruiting on behalf of Mid and East Antrim Borough Council for a Casual Community Centre Caretaker based in the Carrickfergus area. The role focuses on keeping community centres clean, safe, secure and welcoming for all users in a flexible, casual capacity.

Responsibilities include opening and securing premises, cleaning to high standards, supervising bookings, assisting with events, and ensuring health and safety compliance.

Qualifications

• GCSEs including English and Maths at Grade C or above, or equivalent.
• At least 6 months’ experience in cleaning and security/facility operations, dealing with the public and administrative duties.
• Or at least 1 year’s relevant experience if GCSEs are not held.
• Ability to respond to call-outs outside normal hours and willingness to work across Carrickfergus centres.

Pay Rate: £13.26 per hour
Hours: Casual, as and when required

Key Responsibilities

• Opening, closing, and securing community centre premises
• Carrying out cleaning duties to maintain high standards of hygiene and presentation
• Supervising centre bookings and activities when required
• Responding to enquiries from members of the public and facility users
• Setting up and dismantling rooms, equipment, and furniture for events and activities
• Monitoring health and safety requirements and reporting incidents or maintenance issues
• Conducting routine checks of fire safety equipment and emergency systems
• Supporting Council events and community activities as required

Applicants must have:

• A minimum of 3 GCSEs (including English and Maths at Grade C or above) or equivalent

AND

At least 6 months’ experience in:

• Cleaning and security/facility operations
• Dealing with members of the public and customer enquiries
• Administrative duties within a customer-focused environment

OR

A minimum of 1 year’s relevant experience in the above areas if GCSE qualifications are not held.

Additional Requirements

• Ability to respond to call-outs outside normal working hours
• Flexibility to work across community centres in the Carrickfergus area
• Availability for evening and weekend work when required
• Full UK driving licence and access to transport, or access to suitable transport to carry out the duties of the role
