Job summary

Prospere Learning Trust is seeking a Caretaker at Pear Tree High School in a permanent, full-time role of 35 hours per week. The starting salary is £26,427 per annum, with duties including general repairs, safety monitoring, and site security.

Responsibilities cover liaising with contractors, supervising cleaning staff, setting up for events, and maintaining stock. A full driving licence is highly desirable; COSHH knowledge is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Health & Safety and hygiene regulations; COSHH understanding desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with staff, pupils, contractors and visitors.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Physical ability to undertake manual handling and caretaking duties.
  • Good ICT, literacy and numeracy skills with ability to keep accurate records.
  • Full driving licence is highly desirable.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for Caretaker to join our fantastic team at Pear Tree High School

This is a Grade 3, permanent post working 35 hours per week, all year round. The starting salary is £26,427.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities will include:

  • General repairs and site maintenance (inside and outside)
  • Daily monitoring of health and safety, including fire safety checks
  • Security of the school site, including acting as a key holder and monitoring CCTV (where applicable)
  • Liaison with contractors and monitoring of their compliance with site regulations
  • Supervision of cleaning staff and oversight of external cleaning contractors
  • Grounds maintenance including litter picking and gritting during poor weather
  • Setting up for school events such as exams and parents’ evenings
  • Maintaining stock levels and ordering supplies
  • Supporting lettings and school events outside of normal school hours
  • Acting as a first aider (training provided if needed)
About the Candidate

You will need to evidence:

  • Previous experience of caretaker or similar role responsible for maintenance, cleaning, and repair tasks
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety and hygiene regulations, understanding of COSHH requirements is desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with staff, pupils, contractors, and visitors
