Job description

We are looking for a reliable, proactive and skilled Caretaker to join a friendly school community. The successful candidate will take pride in maintaining a safe, clean, and well-presented environment for our pupils, staff, and visitors. Beginning September 2025.

Duties as Caretaker:

  • Opening and closing the school premises

  • General maintenance, repairs, and basic DIY

  • Ensuring the security and safety of the site

  • Monitoring heating, lighting and alarm systems

  • Liaising with contractors and overseeing site access when necessary

  • Keeping the school grounds clean and tidy

  • Supporting with setting up furniture/equipment for school events

Ideal Caretaker:

  • Have previous experience in a similar role (not essential but desirable)

  • Be trustworthy, practical, and able to use initiative

  • Have good communication and organisational skills as a Caretaker.

  • Be physically fit and capable of carrying out manual tasks

  • Be committed to health & safety and safeguarding standards
