A local educational institution in Lewes is seeking an enthusiastic caretaker to join its Facilities Management team. This role requires covering weekdays and evenings, supervising a cleaning team, and ensuring the school remains clean and compliant with health and safety standards. The position offers flexibility in working hours and the opportunity to take on various maintenance jobs. Hours: 37 hours per week working from 2pm to 9.30/9.00pm Monday to Friday
52 weeks per year
Salary: Scale 4a, Point 9 to 10 £27,254 to £27,694
Varndean School requires an enthusiastic, committed and flexible caretaker to join the busy and productive Facilities Management area.
This team is at the heart of the school’s activities and operates daily from 7am-9.30pm with a variety of external activities taking place at the school in the evening and on Saturdays. This position is to cover weekdays and evenings, between 2.00pm and 9.30pm (Monday to Thursday) and 2.00pm and 9.00pm (Friday) to include locking the school and looking after lettings. The option to change to day time shifts may be available during periods of school holidays.
Flexibility will be required, however, to cover the wider shift pattern during periods of staff absence & holiday periods.
This position is varied and every day is different, staff members work as a team to complete small maintenance jobs as well as keeping the school clean and tidy and compliant with all Health and Safety regulations. As part of this role you will also be required to supervise and coordinate our team of cleaners.
