Job summary

South Hampstead High School is seeking a practical, reliable Caretaker to join our site team. This full-time role involves early starts and shift coverage to keep the premises safe, welcoming and well-maintained for pupils, staff and visitors.

This is a varied, hands-on role where you will make a visible difference every day, helping to ensure that our Senior School remains a safe, welcoming and well-maintained environment for pupils, staff and visitors.Working closely with the Senior School Premises Manager, you will help keep the site running smoothly, responding to maintenance requests, carrying out minor repairs, undertaking security and compliance checks, supporting contractors and helping with the set-up of school events and activities. You will also assist with porterage, grounds duties and the general upkeep of communal areas.You will join a well-organised premises team covering the school day from opening at 6.30am through to 6pm on a shift basis. Some flexibility for occasional evening and weekend work will be required.**About you**We are looking for someone with good general maintenance and practical skills who takes pride in their work. You will be organised, self-motivated and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team, with the ability to prioritise tasks and respond positively when unexpected issues arise. Strong interpersonal skills are important, as you will work with pupils, colleagues, parents, contractors and visitors across the school.You will also need to be computer literate and able to drive.
