Overview
Trainee Estate Caretaker, based at one of our estates, working in communal areas within high and low rise residential blocks and other areas on council estates. Undertaking a wide variety of tasks including caretaking, cleaning, environmental maintenance, removal of fly-tipping, refuse and graffiti, kerb appeal work, health and safety, painting, and a focus on customer services activities – you could say it’s a different job every day!
Contract and pay
Permanent. Grade 2 - £24,796 - £26,824. Consultation grade - subject to formal evaluation under the Pay Equity Review. Working 36.5 hours per week.
Responsibilities
- You will provide assistance to customers with general housing-related queries, liaising with Neighbourhood Caretakers, Area Neighbourhood Caretakers and other Council colleagues. You will liaise with other organisations such as Repair contractors and Waste Management to maintain the local environment.
- You will be a great listener and communicator and be able to understand and interpret instructions. You will be required to make day-to-day decisions regarding site safety and you must be able to deal with any issues that arise in a calm, professional manner, have a “can-do” improvement-focused attitude, along with a desire to keep learning. You will also be enthusiastic, flexible and adaptable.
- We will support you in your role by providing all the training you will need, including qualifications in Cleaning, Health and Safety, COSHH and Infection Prevention and Control.
- Due to the nature of the work, candidates must have a good level of physical fitness. There are various city-wide locations available.
