Job summary

Avamere at St Helens is seeking a part-time/on-call Caregiver to assist residents in assisted living and memory care. Duties include aiding with ADLs, emotional support, housekeeping, and ensuring safety and well-being.

The position offers flexible shifts, weekend availability, and the opportunity to contribute to a warm, compassionate team providing quality elder care. CPR/First Aid and Food Handler’s Card are required, with benefits available.

Qualifications

  • Prefer experience as a Caregiver in Memory Care Unit or Assisted Living Facility.
  • Must have CPR/First Aid Certification during employment.
  • Must have a Food Handler’s Card.
  • Experience in electronic medical records documentation.
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Friendly, attentive, and professional demeanor with residents and guests.
  • A genuine desire to improve the quality of life for seniors.
  • Create and uphold an atmosphere of warmth, patience, enthusiasm, and a calm, cheerful environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs): bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting.
  • Mobility assistance: helping walking, transfers, mobility aids.
  • Meal preparation: setting up meals, cutting up food, clearing trays.
  • Emotional support and companionship: empathy, listening, conversation.
  • Housekeeping: cleaning, laundry, tidying up.
  • Health monitoring: observe changes, report concerns, monitor vital signs.
  • Respond to resident calls for assistance promptly.
  • Maintain confidentiality and a safe work environment.
  • Assist with orientation of new residents and staff.

Caregiver

Type: Part-Time/On-Call
Shift: Working in Assisted Living and Memory Care, On-Call, All shifts available, Weekend availability needed
Wage:$18.58-$24.24/hr DOE


Attendance bonus: The perfect attendance bonus in a pay period will be $100.00 for a full-time employee and $75.00 for a part-time employee.


Location: Avamere at St Helens - 2400 Gable Road, St Helens, OR 97051


Job Summary

The caregiver's duties encompass a wide range of tasks, including assisting with activities of daily living, emotional support, housekeeping, and ensuring the resident's safety and well-being.


Essential Duties and Job Responsibilities

Assisting with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs):



  • Personal Hygiene:Helping with bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.

  • Mobility Assistance:Supporting residents with walking, transferring, and using mobility aids.

  • Meal Preparation:Assisting with setting up meals, cutting up food if needed, and removing trays from rooms.


Emotional Support and Companionship:



  • Providing Emotional Support:Offering empathy, listening to residents, and providing encouragement.

  • Companionship:Engaging in conversations, activities, and social interactions to combat loneliness and isolation.


Housekeeping:



  • Maintaining a clean and safe environment, including laundry, cleaning, and tidying up.


Health Monitoring and Medical Advocacy:



  • Observing residents for changes in health, reporting concerns to medical professionals, and monitoring vital signs.


Other:



  • Answer resident calls for assistance timely.

  • Maintain a clean, comfortable, and safe work environment for residents, staff, and visitors.

  • Maintain confidentiality of resident information.

  • Maintain a safe work environment. Report safety concerns in the resident apartments to the supervisor.

  • Assists with the orientation of new residents and staff when assigned.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the manager or supervisor.


Requirements and Qualifications


  • Prefer experience as a Caregiver in a Memory Care Unit and or Assisted Living Facility.

  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain active CPR/First Aid Certification during employment.

  • Must have the ability to obtain a Food Handler’s Card.

  • Experience in electronic medical records documentation.

  • Must be 18 years or older.

  • Friendly, attentive, and professional demeanor with residents and guests.

  • A genuine desire to improve the quality of life for seniors.

  • Create and uphold an atmosphere of warmth, patience, enthusiasm, and a calm and cheerful environment.
