Job description

Secondary (Years 7–15) / Wharekura, Careers Advisor

Subjects taught include:
English, Health and Physical Education, Learning Languages, Mathematics and Statistics, Science, Social Sciences, Technology, Te Reo Māori, The Arts

Remuneration: 2MU and Careers Advisor Allowance

Our careers service is performing extremely well, as noted in our recent ERO visit, and our careers lead is moving on.

We highly value the role of careers services and the full range of options available to our students - a traditional academic base, Tawera Rural College, dual enrolment, and Gateway. Our student support team is passionate about ensuring our students leave well qualified and connected to their next stage of life.

We seek someone with this passion who can bring leadership experience, life experiences, and the ability to engage with the full range of rangatahi. Knowledge of and contacts within our region would be a major advantage; therefore, this role may not suit overseas applicants.

As a semi-rural school near Christchurch, at the heart of our community, our development programme is based on a strong vision. We are engaged in PB4L, restorative practices, curriculum reform, and cultural capability development. We have a growing roll of 820 students, Years 7–13, most of whom are well supported at home and well connected to school; some require us to adapt our practices to meet their needs.

Terms and conditions of employment are covered under the Secondary Teachers Collective Agreement. Overseas applicants must have current NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa, and current NZ Teacher registration. They must also demonstrate local competencies to be considered.
