Job Description:

Careers Consultant - University of London Careers Service Online, Distance and Flexible Learners Maternity Cover (12 months)

The University of London

The University of London is a leading UK provider of distance and digital education internationally, offering programmes to 45,000 students in 190 countries around the world. Although proudly rooted in London, our community and impact are global.

We are a national leader in the humanities, and we promote their value to society and the economy through knowledge creation and exchange.

We are also a federation of 17 world class higher education institutions, with collaboration at the heart of our ethos. The University of London federation is a collective community of more than 240,000 learners and 50,000 staff, delivering world-leading research across all disciplines.

Our passion for increasing access to education and mobilising the collective power and expertise of the federation is central to our ability to transform lives around the world and address the global challenges of the future.

The Role

The University of London Careers Service is recruiting a Careers Consultant to work with our online, distance and flexible learning students. We are looking to hire a four days a week post (28 hours) as a 12 months maternity leave cover post. The role is a hybrid role based in Senate House, Malet Street, London for a minimum of 40% of the week.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic, innovative and award-winning Careers team. As a University of London Careers Consultant, you will work in collaboration with the wider University of London Careers Service team, University of London colleagues, our member institutions and internationally-based affiliated Teaching Centres, to design and deliver the highest possible standard of careers and employability support to our students and clients

University of London online, distance and flexible learning students are based across the world, mostly studying undergraduate or postgraduate programmes. Some of the students are based within an affiliated Teaching Centre in their home country, whilst many are independent learners completing their studies alone. Given the diversity of the cohort, University of London Careers Service uses a three-part Career Stage Framework (CSF) to represent the different levels of work-based experience which University of London Careers Service students represent; Career Starters, Career Developers and Career Changers. The Career Stage Framework informs the work of the UoLCS Careers Consultants in the design, delivery and evaluation of the virtual and global careers and employability provision for our students, which enables our clients to acquire the skills and resources necessary to plan and manage their careers and to secure appropriate employment or further study

We are looking for candidates who have experience within Higher Education careers and employability services and have a relevant qualification in careers guidance or coaching
