Job description

Location: Rotherham (will be required to work at other college sites as and when required)

Salary: A GBP 26,941 per annum + benefits

The Role

As a Careers and Employability Advisor, you will focus on providing excellent careers and employability information, advice, and guidance to all students regarding their progression.

You will be a key member of the careers team, delivering a high level of careers information, advice, and guidance. Your role will involve supporting learners with their career choices, setting SMART career targets, and guiding them towards positive destinations.

You will provide students and prospective students with the necessary information to make informed decisions about future studies or employment after college. Additionally, you will support students in securing part-time employment during their studies. This role offers the opportunity to genuinely change lives by offering students the support they need to achieve their aspirations.

You will be committed to delivering excellent career guidance, helping students secure the best possible outcomes.

Skills and Qualifications
  • Experience in student guidance, working with learners aged 14-16, 16-18, 19+, including those with SEND, Looked After Children, or Education, Health and Care Plans.
  • Experience in creating innovative resources and delivering group sessions, with good presentation skills.
  • Level 3 in Initial Advice and Guidance, or willingness to undertake it; and a Level 2 (or equivalent) qualification in English and Maths, or willingness to obtain them.
  • The college supports undertaking a Level 6 careers guidance qualification to meet Gatsby Benchmarks.
  • Ideally, knowledge of qualifications within Further Education and progression routes.
Department Info

You will report to the Careers Education, Information, Advice, and Guidance Leader and collaborate with the Student Support team, referring students for additional support as needed.

You will develop links with curriculum teams to promote the Careers Team and its services. Your role also supports meeting Gatsby Benchmarks and achieving accreditation for the Matrix.
