Job summary

The Charter Schools Educational Trust is seeking a committed Part-time Career Adviser to join its team in London. The role involves delivering professional career guidance services, including personal guidance interviews, to help pupils develop skills and planning for future careers.

The successful candidate will work within an inclusive 11–18 school, supporting students from diverse backgrounds and contributing to high aspirations and strong outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Minimum two years’ experience working with children (paid or unpaid).
  • Interest in Careers Education in a school setting is preferred.
  • Understanding of strategies to raise aspirations and maintain high standards.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional career guidance services to pupils, including personal guidance interviews.
  • Support pupils to improve skills, knowledge and understanding for careers planning and management.
  • Contribute to a positive, inclusive school environment through effective guidance.

Job description

We seek to appoint a committed and enthusiastic Part-time Career Adviser to join our team. To provide professional career guidance services, including personal guidance interviews, in order to improve pupils ‘skills, knowledge and understanding for careers planning and management.
What skills and experience we're looking for
  • A minimum of two years’ experience of working with children (either paid or unpaid capacity) preferably in a secondary education setting
  • A recognised interest in the importance of Careers Education in a school
  • Understanding of strategies needed to establish consistently high aspirations and standards of results and behaviour
  • Demonstrates high expectations which inspire, enthuse, motivate and challenge students to achieve their best
  • Ability to form strong relationships with students, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds and those with additional needs
