Job Description:
Summary
The BBS Careers Adviser will have responsibility for delivering careers advice and guidance, and career development learning, to students within the business school. This role will initially focus on supporting Postgraduate students but will also support undergraduate students and others as needed throughout the year. Drawing upon your expertise in student employability and the graduate and/or experienced hire labour market, you will advise academic colleagues, professional services staff, and BBS Careers team members to develop and engage students with curricular and co-curricular external engagement, employability skills, and career development activities.
Collaborating with a small team, you will deliver activities that enhance employability, promote equality, diversity, and inclusion, and ensure students have access to suitable development opportunities. You will use data analysis, labour market intelligence, digital technologies, and student collaboration to provide tailored career support for our diverse student cohort.
This role is part of the BBS Careers team, supporting students and graduates to realize their potential and shape their careers positively. The team, comprising around 15 staff, supports employability within and beyond the curriculum, engaging with employers, alumni, and external partners. It reports to Birmingham Business School but aligns closely with the University of Birmingham Careers Network. We foster a culture of ambition, support, collaboration, and passion for student success.
This is a 0.8FTE role. Interviewees will discuss what this means for their working arrangements and how we can support them to provide excellent service.
