The role of Career Coach is an excellent opportunity to work within the local community, across a new national green skills and employability project funded by Shell. Reporting to the Operations Manager and working alongside an experienced employability team, you will support service users to progress into apprenticeships, employment, education, and training opportunities.

About You

  • Experienced Career Coach working within local communities to support service users into apprenticeships, employment, education, and training.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to develop rapport with referral partners, customers, training providers, employers, and participants.
  • Approachable, adaptable, and supportive to various stakeholders involved in this programme.
  • Positive, enthusiastic attitude towards problem-solving and a 'can do' approach.
  • Excellent organisational, administrative, and prioritisation skills, with the ability to meet deadlines, produce reports, and achieve objectives.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Induct, assess, and onboard participants, delivering high-quality information, advice, and guidance.
  • Promote and develop participants' mind-set, emotional intelligence, self-confidence, and self-esteem to enhance their success in the workplace.
  • Assist participants in preparing CVs, cover letters, and job/apprenticeship applications, and undertake job searches using relevant web-based software.
  • Shortlist, pre-select, and match participants to vacancies or work experience opportunities, preparing job packs for specific roles.
  • Introduce participants to a 'strength-based' recruitment approach, prepare them for interviews, and arrange interviews with employers when appropriate.
  • Maintain regular contact with participants to ensure they sustain employment or apprenticeships, providing high-quality in-work support for at least six months.
  • Support the delivery of Job Fairs, Workshops, and Seminars, both face-to-face and remotely, to prepare participants for the workplace.
