Job description

We're Hiring: Careers and Work Inspiration Project Officer

Location: Huntingdon/Hybrid

Directorate: Economy and Growth – Skills & Employment

Salary Band: NJC 10, from £37,938 (FTE) This role will be contracted to 18.5 hours/week, therefore the pro-rata salary will be from £18,969.

Closing Date: Monday 4th August at 9am.

Part-time (0.5 FTE, 18.5 hours/week). Specific days and hours are flexible and can be discussed during the interview process.

Role Overview

Working with the Youth Guarantee Lead within the Skills Team, this excellent role will place you at the forefront of careers and work inspiration activities across Cambridgeshire & Peterborough.

You will be involved in the development and implementation of the Youth Guarantee as well as a range of other programs aimed at strengthening NEET prevention at Key Stage four and post-16. Ideally, you will have skills and experience as a careers guidance professional and should possess a working knowledge of pre- and post-16 education and employment policy.

You should be able to demonstrate a good understanding of the local labour market and have the skills and experience necessary for working with employers across various programmes, including work experience, industry placements, and broader curriculum development.

What you'll be doing:

  • Designing and delivering projects that support strategic careers and employability goals
  • Building and managing strong partnerships across education, business, and third sectors
  • Acting as a subject matter expert and advisor to schools and providers
  • Creating inclusive and impactful employer engagement strategies
  • Leading the development of resources and tools to inform and inspire career pathways
  • Managing budgets and reporting progress in line with funding requirements

We’re looking for someone with:

  • Significant experience in careers, employability, or a similar project role
  • A strong track record of stakeholder engagement and partnership working
  • Deep knowledge of the education, skills, and employment landscape
  • An innovative mindset, excellent communication skills, and a proactive approach
  • A minimum Level 3 qualification relevant to the role
