Job summary

Housing 21 is recruiting a Care Worker in Crawley to support residents living in independent apartments within our Extra Care schemes. You’ll be part of a friendly, supportive team and help residents with daily tasks, personal care, and following care plans.

You’ll build strong relationships with residents, provide compassionate care, and contribute to a positive living environment. Training and development are available.

Qualifications

• Good written and verbal English communication skills.
• Willingness to undertake training as required.
• Genuine desire to help people.
• Reliable and flexible approach to work.
• Ability to use initiative and stay calm under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Support residents with household tasks such as laundry, shopping, cleaning and paying bills.
• Make meals, drinks and snacks as needed.
• Encourage residents to follow agreed care plans.
• Assist with personal care including washing, dressing and morning/evening routines.
• Monitor wellbeing and keep managers informed of progress.
• Work shifts across early, late and potential night duties; every other weekend.

Tasks can include:

• Supporting with household and domestic tasks, such as laundry, shopping, cleaning, and financial transactions such as paying bills.
• Making meals, drinks and snacks where necessary.
• Encouraging and enabling residents to follow agreed care plans.
• Assisting residents with getting up in the morning, providing personal care including washing / bathing and dressing; helping with undressing and going to bed in the evening, as well as providing help and ensuring medication is taken as required.
• Putting resident wellbeing at the heart of the service, going the extra mile to ensure our residents can live their best lives and ensuring managers and key agencies are kept informed of progress. To be kind and friendly

• To remain calm under pressure Shift Pattern: A mixture of Early shifts (7am-2pm) and late shifts (2pm-10pm) and potential to cover some wake in night shifts 910pm-7am) You will be required to work every other weekend

Our Care Workers:

• Are paid by the hour, not by the job. £13.86 per hour, full time equivalent £25,295 per annum (based on working 35 hours per week)
