Job summary

Nottingham City Council is seeking a Night Care Worker Level 2 in Nottingham for a permanent role with a 2-week rolling night-shift rota. The post requires a DBS enhanced check and offers a starting salary of £27,709 increasing to £28,608 per annum pro rata for part-time staff.

Responsibilities

  • Guide and support the night team, providing leadership and ensuring high standards of care throughout the shift.
  • Lead on promoting and maintaining the safety, health and wellbeing of citizens, responding appropriately to incidents and seeking medical advice or assistance when required.
  • Maintain the security and safety of the building overnight, carrying out relevant checks and ensuring a safe environment for citizens, visitors and colleagues at all times.
  • Provide safe, appropriate and personalised care and support that maintains citizens’ dignity, maximises independence, and gives them choice and control over how their care is delivered.
  • Implement, write, maintain and monitor person-centred care plans, reporting any concerns or reasons why care plans cannot be followed.
  • Administer medication in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Monitor the care and welfare of citizens, maintaining accurate records within running records, communication books, care plan monitoring charts (such as weight monitoring and falls records), and other written and electronic systems as required.
  • Work closely with citizens, their families, carers, meaningful others and other professionals to ensure a coordinated approach to care and support, promoting continuity of care and treatment.

About the Role

This role is 33.25 hours per week and operates on a two-week rolling rota:

  • Week 1: Wednesday to Friday, 9:25pm to 7:15am
  • Week 2: Monday, Tuesday, Saturday and Sunday, 9:25pm to 7:15am

As a Night Care Worker Level 2 you will:

About You

The ideal candidate will be able to:

  • Assist and support citizens to exercise choice and control in accordance with their needs, preferences and aspirations
  • Encourage, motivate and support citizens to maintain or regain maximum independence in all aspects of daily living and purposeful activities
  • Develop and coordinate leisure and social activities that promote self esteem, confidence and a purposeful day. This can include one to one or conversations group activities, supporting citizens with their individual interests, developing or maintaining contact with family, friends and community, accompanying citizens on outings, collection of shopping, pensions etc
  • Write and maintain up to date individual person centred care plans for citizen

A DBS enhanced check for a regulated activity is essential for this post.
