Job summary

Avencia Consulting is seeking a Development Underwriter specialising in the Care Sector to join its growing UK Commercial Insurance team. You will underwrite complex Care Sector risks, build broker relationships, and identify opportunities to drive sustainable, profitable growth.

You will work with underwriting, distribution, claims, actuarial and risk colleagues to develop propositions and deliver excellent outcomes for brokers and customers. Flexible working arrangements are supported.

Qualifications

5+ years experience underwriting Care sector
Strong technical underwriting and portfolio management
Track record of broker relationships and generating new business
Excellent trading, negotiation and commercial decision-making
Identify opportunities and turn them into sustainable trading outcomes
Strong communication and influencing skills
Experience mentoring or coaching colleagues
Dip CII or ACII or pursuing them

Responsibilities

Underwrite complex Care Sector risks within underwriting authorities.
Develop and convert new business opportunities, delivering against targets.
Build strong broker relationships and distribution partnerships.
Maintain a visible presence across broker panels with visits and engagement.
Identify and develop new trading opportunities within region and broker portfolio.
Manage pipeline and broker activity through CRM and underwriting systems.
Collaborate with Claims, Risk, Actuarial, Distribution and Operations.
Mentor colleagues and promote high underwriting standards.
Represent the business at broker meetings, industry events and market forums.
Contribute to ongoing development of the Care Sector proposition and growth strategy.
