Job responsibilities

Job Title: Medical Receptionist

Department: Reception and Administration Team

Main Purpose of Job: To serve as the primary contact point for patients and provide administrative support to clinicians.

Main Duties:

  • Welcoming patients and visitors in person and via phone
  • Maintaining confidentiality at all times
  • Understanding the purpose of visitors' attendance or calls
  • Dealing with patients efficiently and courteously
  • Handling enquiries and calls promptly and passing them to the appropriate personnel

Management of Patient Registration:

  • Gathering necessary details for registration
  • Completing registration forms accurately
  • Registering patients on the computer and scheduling check-ups

Appointment management:

  • Booking appropriate appointments based on patient information
  • Obtaining necessary details to confirm bookings
  • Handling cancellations and rescheduling
  • Managing doctor/nurse schedules and home visit requests
  • Distributing results and calling patients for checks
  • Managing repeat prescriptions and online access
  • Handling outgoing communications and samples

Additional responsibilities include safeguarding sensitive information, participating in training and safety protocols, and reacting professionally under pressure.

Reporting to the Practice Manager and accountable to the Practice Partners, the role involves adhering to protocols and participating in ongoing training.
